IMPORTANT CHANGES TO STUDENT JOB POSTINGS FOR CAMPUS EMPLOYERS!!!

Recently we have migrated the location of STUDENT CAMPUS JOBS to our online secure job/internship posting site, MaroonNet, so that students need to look in only one place for all job opportunities, both on- and off-campus.   This also keeps the general public from accessing this information, as we get calls from people off-campus about posted student jobs from the old site. The previous posting site is now no longer available, and students already have gotten instructions for where to look for these job postings.  This will also affect how you post jobs for students.  You may wish to keep this email for future reference until you have need to use it the first time.

POSTING JOBS:

•1. Go to www.myinterfase.com/roanoke/employer.  THIS IS YOUR LOG-IN PAGE FOR STUDENT JOB POSTINGS, SO YOU ARE ENCOURAGED TO BOOKMARK THIS PAGE BEFORE GOING FURTHER, AND NAME IT SOMETHING LIKE "CAMPUS STUDENT JOB POSTING SITE"

•2. For most of you, this will be your first use of MaroonNet, so at the page above, follow the link to register and set up a new profile, including your contact information, employer information (which will identify your department and so on), and then the actual job information.  All of the items marked with an asterisk (*) are REQUIRED, though you are encouraged to fill in as many of the fields as related to your job(s).  NOTE THAT FOR ALL STUDENT JOBS, THE EMPLOYER NAME SHOULD BE "RC (and you department name)."  As an example, "RC Library Reference Desk."

  • If you are a NEW employer user, registering for the first time, after you click the link to set up an account, you will be prompted to enter an employer name. If you enter "RC (and your department name)" it should take you to your department page.  If it gives you multiple pages from which to select, CHOOSE NONE OF THEM. RATHER, CLICK THE BUTTON TO PROCEED AS A NEW USER. This will allow you to establish your OWN department contact page, not merge into another's.  If someone else in your department previously would have established your department page, you may need to update it with current contact information.
  • You may go ahead and set up a department profile without having a job to post. Then, when you do have postings, log in and enter the job information. Additionally, if you have multiple types of jobs for the same department, you need only create one profile, but enter different jobs.

•3. When you submit your entry, it will go into a pending bin for my approval.  Once I approve, you will receive an email that lets you know your job has been approved.  You also should receive automated emails that let you know when your job has been viewed by students, and you also will receive an email notification that lets you know your job is about to expire.  The default for postings to stay ACTIVE is 30 days, unless you change the ending date when you post.  You also can log in at any time and change the status of your job from ACTIVE to INACTIVE.  This will remove the job from view to students.

One very nice feature of this posting site is that we no longer have to enter all of your job information from scratch each time you wish to post.  You simply log back in, pull up your job, make any changes such as deadlines to apply, and resubmit the job, and we will change the status of the job back to ACTIVE.

As an employer, you will receive automated emails to indicate when you have active jobs that are about to expire after the default period.  If you had forgotten to change the status and it's been filled, simply do nothing - the job will expire itself.  If, however, you would like to leave the job open for longer, log in and change the ending date for the posting, or if it's expired, change the start and end dates for the posting, and resubmit.  It will come to me for reapproval as a new posting.

We have tried to catch all of the links on the website which reference student job information, to have them changed, but if you run across one that says there is an error, please let me know so that I can request an update.

If you have any problems with the system, please let me know.  Karen Hagele is also very familiar with the administrative side of MaroonNet, should I not be available.

WHERE DO STUDENTS LOOK FOR CAMPUS JOB POSTINGS?

If you receive questions from students about where to access student campus jobs, their link to MaroonNet is posted in a couple of places on the website:  http://www.roanoke.edu/jobs/  (under  Quick Links>Jobs@Roanoke)  or https://webapps.roanoke.edu/maroonnetlogin/   (under Quick Links>Career Services>Students>MaroonNet) ONLY CURRENT STUDENTS CAN ACCESS STUDENT CAMPUS JOBS, SINCE THEY ARE NOT OPEN TO ALUMNI.  They also simply use their RC user name and password, and all students have a profile automatically.
