Department:  Resource Development

Description/Qualifications:  Special Event/Donor Relations Assistant needed to assist Director of Donor Relations and the Associate Director for Campaign and Volunteer Relations. You must be: proficient in MS Suite; very detail oriented; dependable; able to lift 30+ pounds; have use of a vehicle to run errands; personable and able to carry-on conversation with executives, board members, etc. Professional appearance at all times is expected. Some of your responsibilities include: taking RSVP's for events; addressing and mailing invites and letters; drafting postcard invitations; assembling meeting materials; running, setting-up and possibly giving out nametags at events; running errands to pick up materials and deliver supplies to an event site; and assisting with the set-up/or break-down of an event. The candidate is needed approximately 10 hours per week during the semester. Summer hours to be determined. Commuter students encouraged to apply. Description/Qualifications:  Student Assistant - In search of student to assist with daily data-entry and various clerical tasks. Experience preferred but not required. Must be detailed oriented and dependable. Neat dress required. The candidate must be available during semester breaks, holidays and summers and preferably a freshman or sophomore. Department:  Center for Community Service

Description/Qualifications:  VOLUNTEER PROGRAM COORDINATORS:  The Center for Community Service is hiring three staff positions for next fall coordinating volunteer programs in three area non-profit agencies. Applicants should have substantial experience volunteering, should be available 10 hours a week (flexible hours), should have a passion for serving needy members of our local community and be willing to work in a team setting. Department:  Office of Student Success

Description/Qualifications:  Maroon Corps Orientation Group Leaders - Maroon Corps is Roanoke College's R Days student task force. Specifically, they are orientation group leaders for the groups of incoming students. The Corps is responsible for planning and executing activities with incoming students during R Days, for meeting them at scheduled events, for being available to them in case of need and for serving as peer mentors from R Days through fall break. Maroon Corps will go through a summer training process (August 20th-23rd) prior to R Days. Students in the Corps will have permission to return to campus early for training, free meals during that week, and will be paid a total of $200 ($50 for R Days,$50 for first 3 weeks of academic year and $100.00 at fall break) for their time. The Corps is a mix of current students built to represent Roanoke. Description/Qualifications:  Research Assistant needed to provide basic support for a faculty project on ancient Egyptian pottery and their economic role. The research assistant will help find and attain resources, including both texts and images. The RA will also provide support in finalizing a manuscript before publication by attaining image permissions and some bibliographic editing. This research assistant will need to following skills: - Ability to find academic information of the internet - Firm knowledge of how to construct and use bibliographies and footnotes - Must be work-study eligible - Basic knowledge or interest in the ancient world is a plus, but not required.  Interested students should contact Dr. Warden, 540-375-2072, or email warden@roanoke.edu

Description/Qualifications: Internet Communications Assistants needed. Gain valuable experience in web marketing & social media! The Public Relations office is looking to hire an Internet Communications Assistant for fall semester 2012 and beyond. Preference will be given to freshmen and sophomores. Work could include general updates to college website, assisting with video shoots, shooting and editing short videos, writing website copy or blog posts, taking photos, creating photo galleries, assisting with email newsletters, assisting with social media projects or project-managing new websites for offices and departments within the college. Skills needed: strong computer skills with ability to learn new software, a love of technology and the internet, an interest in web marketing and strong attention to detail. Skills Preferred: any experience with web/graphic design, HTML and Dreamweaver, Photography, Video Production and Editing This position provides excellent experiences for students interested in careers in web design, internet marketing, advertising, public relations or communications.
