Commencement

Commencement, Saturday, May 5, 2012

Beginning at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 5, a continental breakfast will be available on Back Quad. Plan to arrive early in order to have breakfast with your family before robing for the Commencement procession.

Commencement is scheduled at 10:00 a.m. on the John R. Turbyfill Quadrangle (Front Lawn). In case of severe inclement weather (i.e., lightning, thunderstorms, or severe rain), Commencement will be held at the Salem Civic Center. Rain passes are not required.

There will be seating for video transmission viewing in Olin Theatre and the Colket Student Center. These locations provide excellent viewing for your guests, especially those who may experience problems with the climate (heat, humidity, etc.).

A Celebration Light Luncheon will be served on the Back Quad immediately following Commencement. Please invite your family and guests to attend the luncheon with you.

Commencement Weekend Schedule 2012

• Departmental Receptions: Scheduled for Friday, May 4, prior to 3:30 p.m.
  (some receptions beginning as early as 12:00 noon) or after 6:00 p.m.  All guests are invited.
• Roanoke College Baccalaureate:  Friday, May 4, 4:30 p.m., Bast Gym
  All graduates, families, and guests are invited to participate.  Rev. R. Paul Henrickson will speak.
• Immediately following Baccalaureate:  Friday, May 4, Olin Hall
  President's Reception for Graduates & Families
• Commencement Day:  Saturday, May 5, 10:00 a.m., John R. Turbyfill Quadrangle
  (Inclement Weather Location:  Salem Civic Center.  It is not necessary for guests to have rain passes to attend.) 
• Celebration Light Luncheon:  Following Commencement, RC Back Quad.  All guests are invited.
