The Roanoke Valley Reef was named the second best Art Exhibit in the Roanoke Valley! City Magazine's Reader's Choice awards for 2012 gave the Reef exhibit 4 stars out of 5, joining an exhibit at the Taubman Museum as the Valley's best. Read about this honor here.
The Roanoke Valley Reef is a collaborative project merging the talents of contributors from Roanoke College, the Roanoke Valley, and beyond. The Roanoke Valley Reef is a satellite reef of the Hyperbolic Crochet Coral Reef, a project of the Institute For Figuring in Los Angeles. The Hyperbolic Crochet Coral Reef has been exhibited in museums and art galleries around the world, including the Natural History Museum of the Smithsonian. The project combines mathematics, the arts, environmental science and other disciplines in an exciting way.
