Zhejiang University

Zhejiang University in Hangzhou provides the setting for the Lutheran Colleges China Consortium (LCCC) program. Located in the precincts of the university, the LCCC offers a small number of U.S. students the chance to study Chinese and take other courses in English. Hangzhou is famous for its West Lake, a scenic location in the city located about two hours from Shanghai. The university is a historic Chinese institution. The Hangzhou program is operated by Valparaiso University in Indiana, which provides the instructors and organizes tours and excursions as part of the program in China. This program operates in the fall semester only. The cost of the program is equivalent to one semester of tuition and housing at Roanoke College.

Zhejiang University is about 15 miles from the center of the city of Hangzhou, and roughly two hours from Shanghai. The Xixi campus of Zhejiang University, where students will study during the program, has about 10,000 students and offers 38 different undergraduate programs. Students live in an international dormitory with other students from all over the world. The instructors guide students through intensive language training and share insights about the local culture.
