The Office of Campus Safety was established in July 1980 to provide the highest level of professional law enforcement and 24-hour security services to the campus community. Located in Bowman Hall, Campus Safety provides a broad range of services. Any accidents, criminal offenses or security problems need to be reported immediately.

The Campus Safety officers at Roanoke College are sworn Conservators of the Peace and have arrest authority on College property.

Campus Safety Mission Statement

The mission of our office is the prevention of crime, the preservation of peace and order, and the protection of life, property, and individual freedom. Campus Safety accomplishes this mission by providing support services, concerted patrol activity, professional and ethical investigations, public education, meaningful programming, enforcement of community standards of conduct, effective crisis response and employing well trained departmental personnel.

Staff

Twelve full time employees at the office of Campus Safety and a number of part time student workers provide a 24 hour a day / 7 day a week operation. Staff consists of a Director, Associate Director, Campus Safety Officers (8), Administrative Coordinator, Communications Coordinator, and Student Employees (Dispatchers and Administrative)
