The Roanoke and Salem civic centers host major concerts, performances and other events. The Roanoke Civic Center has recently hosted the likes of John Mayer, Matchbox 20, Kanye West, Kid Rock, Jerry Seinfield, Toby Keith and plays like Chicago as well as sporting events such as the Big South men's basketball tournament.
The Salem Civic Center hosts shows and sporting events as well as many top recording artists such as Sara Evans and Allison Krause and Union Station.
Roanoke also is home to The Jefferson Center, which is the area's premiere venue for performance, culture and the arts. It houses many arts and performance organizations and attracts an eclectic array of top-notch performing artists from around the world and locally, such as salsa bands, jazz artists, blues bands and flamenco guitarists.
