Transportation in Roanoke


The Roanoke Regional Airport is the primary commercial airport serving western Virginia. With over 60 scheduled airline flights arriving and departing daily, the Roanoke Regional Airport offers nonstop service to a dozen major cities, as well as frequent connecting service through the hubs of five major airlines.

Bus Service

Valley Metro is the public transportation provider serving the Roanoke Valley. Service includes fixed routes, special event shuttles, and commuter bus service between the Roanoke and New River Vallies with its Smart Way Bus.


The Roanoke Valley has a bus-to-rail service available through The Smart Way Bus, which will take you to nearby Lynchburg to be able to get to Amtrak.  

Campus Bus Service

Don't have a car? No problem - the college has a bus service, the Maroon Express, that will get you around town. The Maroon Express is operated by Valley Metro.
