Internships: Real Experience with a Research Angle
Traditional internships, while valuable, usually involve on-the-job training assignments, but some Roanoke internships incorporate a strong research component.
During the past few years, Roanoke College Biology students have performed internships at biotechnology companies such as Novozymes, hospitals such as Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital, chiropractors, doctor offices, and zoos such as Mill Mountain Zoo.

Michael Barrett '04 began researching the effect of shipwrecks on the environment during a semester abroad in Sydney, Australia. Three years later, he became the youngest person to ever receive a National Geographic grant to continue his work.
