Genetics & Birth Defects:  Provides a list of diseases and defects with a short explanation of each

GenomePad:  Contains a searchable list of sequenced genomes with dates for genome completion, not very complete and focused on vertebrates and other animals, the only non-animal  in the "other"  category is yeast

Music History:  Used in "Sex, Drugs, and Rock N Roll" to link historical dates to biological topics discussed

Myths and Facts LITE:  Some topics related to biology, presents commonly held beliefs or urban legends, provides an explanation on why the statement is true or false

NASA App:  Provided by NASA Ames Research Center.  This app gives information on when and where the space station can be seen from earth.   I use before I go on camping field trips with the students to check out if we will be able to see the space station from our camp.  This app also has information on all NASA missions - a delight to the inner science geek in all of us.

News In Graphs:  Made by VentureDNA and is free initially then the subscription runs out and it is about $0.99 a month (there are different packages you can get with longer subscriptions).  I thought this would be a great way to look at current ecology issues. But the level of information was too elementary for my class.  It has a section called Science Matters, which covers ecology topics but usually only has one or two.  It does not have links to other information.  Additionally, I have found this app to be slow and finicky.  The web is better for exploring current topics in ecology. Needs Wi-Fi connection.

Odd Genetic Diseases:  Provides a name and short explanation for various human genetic diseases.  Good starting point for a list of human diseases.  Good potential as paper prompts.

PopSci:  Good to show students that science happens everyday

Science Friday:  Audio and Video podcasts from the show.

Science:  Latest news from the journal "Science".

Semantic Wb: List of medical terms and short definitions, difficult to search, no instructions and health care is spelled "heath" care on the entry screen
