3D Brain:  Visual representation of the human brain that is able to be rotated and pieces removed

Algal Sex:  Great video showing one species sexual reproduction with real organisms

Cat-A-Log:  Shows the basic genetic diversity across accepted feline breeds.  Complete with information of origin and breed specifics

Chirp Lite:  Teaches basic local birds and songs using GPS locator

Epocrates:  Has information that could be used in microbiology, pre-pharmacy, cell biology, genetics, A&P, and many others interested in medicine.  There is a pay version that is expanded.

F.Turkeys:  Great for a hunter or someone who wants to learn this group specifically because it gives several different life cycle ages and sounds of the turkey

FloraFolia:  By HoliMoli Media. Much better than the free plant apps I have seen. Still it limited in number of species (e.g. 6 ferns and 24 shrubs) and more photos of flowers than leaves. Once downloaded, does not need a Wi-Fi connection.

Flowerpedia: Allows one to look up plants in different ways and gives nice pictures to help with basic student identifications.  Student does not need to know a lot of taxonomy.

Genetic Code:  Provides tables for codon usage

iBird 15: teaches basic area birds with information on the species, pictures and songs

Peterson Bird Field Guides:  By Wildtones. Costs less than the paper field guide and has much of the same information. Can search multiply ways, has range maps, calls, and species descriptions. Can create a digital life list. Includes 800 species making it a good choice for an academic class. Peterson Feeder Birds of North America is free, includes 160 birds and is a good starter. Once downloaded, does not need Wi-Fi connection.

Phyto:  Can be used as a moderate field guide (under a microscope), gives pronunciation of species, and it has a flash card function.  Great learning tool for beginners.

Psych Drugs:  Good information about common medications; good jumping points

Rx Drug:  Part of skyscape; level is at the medical community level (professional)

Seafood Watch: A sustainable seafood guide sponsored by Monterey Bay Aquarium, details regarding market names, health alerts and a summary to support the rating.

TCT Lite (periodic table): Provides a periodic table, including mass, density, melting point, boiling point, and other details about any element
