- The eight-week program is conducted at Roanoke College campus from June 2 to July 25, 2014.
- Roanoke College students receive Internship and/or Intensive Learning course credit.
- Free room and board on the Roanoke College campus is provided.
- All applicants will live on campus and shall be available for all team activities.
- Weekend travel is allowed but team activities would take priority.
A participant works on a product concept.
- Teams of students representing multiple disciplines will use existing ideas or conceive innovations and develop the associated marketing research, business models, and business plans. In addition, students will identify and/or develop potential buyers, licensees or strategic partners.
- Students will attend interactive workshops and panel discussions led by business leaders, entrepreneurs, and college faculty on different aspects of innovation, technology development and business. These may include:
- Team Building
- Production Management
- Marketing Research
- Financial Planning
- Business Planning
- Product Research and Development
- Packaging & Branding
- Students will participate in FDA filing, intellectual property protection and/or patent applications.
- Students will also participate in Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer Program (STTR) application process.
- The program culminates with business plan presentations by the teams before a panel of business leaders, company executives, and Roanoke College faculty.
A student team presents a dental product concept.
Course involves case studies, an advanced business simulation, workshops, labs, readings of top-tier articles and lectures on strategy.
Sarmadi does a lot more than fetch coffee for financial brokers, including Roanoke alum Brandon Reynolds ’00. He has been able to research liquidations and help create portfolios for clients while also attending and participating in conferences and meetings during his summer internship in Atlanta, Ga.
