Minor in Elementary Education
For those who do not wish to teach professionally, and do not need the licensure afforded by our Collegiate Professional license program, Roanoke College offers the minor.
For those interested in the art and science of effective teaching, the minor provides an excellent overview of pedagogical research, concepts, and practices.
Courses: EDUC 210, 221, 230, 242, 320, *338 and TESL 220
*EDUC 338 is an internship in education and requires that you have an overall 2.5 GPA and have passed the VCLA and Praxis I Math tests. Tests are offered locally.
Dr. Gary L. Whitt, associate professor of education and faculty advisor in the Center for Learning and Teaching, and Mark D. Poore, director of instructional technology and an adjunct faculty member in computer science, recently helped the College to receive a grant from the Verizon Foundation through a program of the Virginia Foundation for Independent Colleges.
