Many students expand their knowledge and skill sets through internship experiences off campus.

Summer Scholars

The Summer Scholars Program at Roanoke College is a grant program that enables qualified students to conduct intensive, independent research for eight to twelve weeks during the summer.

Independent Study

Independent studies provide students with a practical application of their particular majors or more specialized study in a particular area.

May Term

May Term is approximately a three week period during which students can participate in a wide array of Intensive Learning opportunities, including travel courses as well as on-campus courses.

Joint Dissection

Students have the opportunity to participate in a joint dissection with a local Orthopedic Surgeon.

NCAA Championships Opportunity

Students have the opportunity to assist a faculty member, who is the medical coordinator, each year for the national championship contests.

Dr. Elizabeth Holbrook and two of her students set out this fall to find ways to improve healthy habits for residents in Roanoke's West End community. Their suggestions could be incorporated into a city revitalization plan for the area.
