Independent study is an excellent way to get hands-on experience ahead of job searches or graduate school. Roanoke College helps students get just that. Some HHP students complete one or more independent research projects during their time at Roanoke.
Recent students' projects include:
Exploring after-school health and wellness interventions
Documenting lactate clearance rates after different types of running events in track and field
Studying kinematics and physiological load while walking with and without hiking poles
Researching overtraining and its effects on cardiovascular health
Evaluating shoulder function and fatigue in swimmers, baseball pitchers and other athletes
Teaching assistantships in the Exercise Physiology Lab course
