German
German is the language of three major European countries: Switzerland, the home of beautiful Alps, international NGOs, and the Red Cross; Austria, the fourth-richest country in the European Union, with its popular cities of Vienna, Salzburg, and Innsbruck; and Germany, the second-largest exporter in the world, with a rich cultural heritage in literature, visual arts, and music. Germany stands at the forefront of the development of renewable energy and sustainable production.
German Minor
The minor in German prepares students to work and study in German-speaking areas. Roanoke College participates in student exchanges with the University of Bamberg and the Pedagogical University of Ludwigsburg. Students of German also have the opportunity to study at other German-speaking universities through the ISEP program.
