Human Development Concentration
About the Program

The Concentration in Human Development has two purposes:
- To provide focused coursework for students who plan to pursue a post-graduate degree in counseling psychology or school psychology
- To prepare students for entry-level positions in a variety of careers that involve designing and/or implementing programs for children, adolescents, and/or the elderly
Requirements
Successful completion of the following seven courses is required:
- PSYC 101 (Introduction to Psychology)
- PSYC 205 (Research Methods) or SOCI 251 or CJUS/POLI/I.R. 340 Public Affairs Inquiry
- PSYC 210 (Child Development)
- PSYC 211 (Adolescent Development)
- PSYC 212 (Adult Development and Aging)
Two courses chosen from:
- PSYC 300 (Tests and Measurements)
- PSYC 315 (Personality)
- PSYC 316 (Internship)
- PSYC 325 (Social Psychology)
- PSYC 340 (Cognition)
To apply for the concentration, students must have a GPA of 2.00 or higher in the courses completed at the time of application. At least three courses not offered in the Major are required for a Concentration.

Roanoke Faculty Create Band
Between faculty meetings and finals, Drs. Maina, Buchholz and Grant find time to march to the beat of their own drums after creating a faculty band last fall. None of the aforementioned faculty can be found in the music department, but these three still know how to perform for a crowd.
