Lab Guidelines and Responsibilities
General Expectations
As members of this research lab you are expected to follow the enclosed guidelines and standards, and to conduct yourself in a professional manner. There are two key components to participation in this lab: independence and interdependence. You are expected to be much more independent in your work and responsibility than in more traditional classrooms. In this lab you will often be assigned to complete tasks and more long-term projects. You are expected to complete your responsibilities as one would in any professional work environment. The second component of this lab is that you are also expected to work well with others. Many of the research projects will require close collaboration between research assistants. While there may be many "independent" research projects going on at any given time, everyone is expected to help each other on their projects (e.g., data collection, data entry, etc). There will be students that have different levels of experience conducting research. As you progress over time through the lab experience you are expected to take more initiative in your work in the lab and eventually to conduct your own independent research project.
