Completing GST Requirements with INQ Courses
In Fall 2009, Roanoke College began the rollout of a new general education curriculum called Intellectual Inquiry, often abbreviated INQ. The previous general education curriculum was called Centers of Distinction, and many of its courses carry the GST designator. Students entering the college as freshmen before Fall 2009 or as transfer students before Fall 2011 remain under the Centers of Distinction curriculum. A checksheet is available that summarizes the GST requirements.
Students who entered under Centers of Distinction remain under that curriculum and do not need to meet requirements of the new Intellectual Inquiry (INQ) curriculum. These students, however, may use some courses with INQ designators to satisfy specific requirements. Below are specific guidelines.
