Tuition

Tuition for an Intensive Learning course is built into each student's tuition package. There is no additional tuition charge for one Intensive Learning course. See college catalog for details.

Second IL Course

Students who take more than one Intensive Learning course will be required to pay an additional tuition charge at the rate of part-time tuition. See college catalog for details.

Campus Housing during IL May Term

Students who are enrolled in an IL course during May term and who need to reside on campus may incur housing charges and fees.

There are no additional housing charges or fees for students who have been residents for at least two years and are enrolled in their first IL course. There are no additional housing charges or fees for students who have been residents for one year, who have a room assignment for the next academic year, and who are enrolled in their first IL course.

Students who do not fit this description and who need to reside on campus while enrolled in an IL course during May term will incur housing charges and fees. See catalog for details.

Fees for Campus & Field Trip Courses

Students in some IL courses are charged fees for materials, field-trips, and other expenses. See the course descriptions for approximate fees.  Many May courses require fewer book purchases than regular term courses, which helps offset the required fees.  Fees for campus and field trip courses must be paid to the Business Office by the first day of class.

Travel Courses

Students enrolling in an IL travel course must pay all travel costs associated with the course. A non-refundable deposit for all IL travel courses is $300 and is due by November 15th.. The balance of costs is due February 1.

Cobbs Scholarship

Students from the Roanoke area (100 mi radius) may receive financial assistance from a Cobbs Scholarship to make traveling abroad for May Term more financially affordable.  Click here to download a copy of the Cobbs Scholarship application.  The application is due to the Financial Aid Office by October 15.  Any student who wishes to study abroad for either May or a semester is encouraged to discuss options with the Financial Aid or Internatioal Education Offices.  Students are often surprised by the affordable options available.

Fortnightly Scholarship

This scholarship assists a student with up to $1500 for their IL Term travel expenses.  Applicants are required to have earned at least a 2.7 cumulative grade point average.  The recipient is selected primarily based upon financial need, but merit may also be considered.  The application is due to the Financial Aid Office by November 1Click here for the application.
