Fields: Wide variety of fields -- overseas study (more than 140 countries)
Required: Sufficient proficiency in written and spoken language of host country
Eligibility: Must have bachelor's degree earned when beginning overseas study (some preference given to candidates with no prior study abroad); U. S. citizen
Awards: About 958 grants, generally covering tuition and various expenses
Deadline: September 30,2010  (local deadline); around October 20  (final deadline)

MARSHALL SCHOLARSHIPS (Contact Dr. John Selby, 131 Bank Bldg, 375-2425; selby@roanoke.edu)
Fields: Wide variety of fields (study at any British university)
Required: Must present a specific and realistic two-year specialized academic research program offered at a specific British university
Eligibility: Have completed the bachelor's degree by time of beginning program; under the age of 26 (preference given to unmarried applicants); have at least a 3.7 grade point average; U. S. citizen
Awards: Up to 40 awards, covering tuition, fees, books, travel expenses, and a living allowance,  for up to 2 years

Fields: Any discipline (1 year of study at any university in Ireland or Northern Ireland)
Required: Must enroll in degree or certificate program
Eligibility: Have completed the bachelor's degree by time of beginning program; achievement in academic, leadership, and community service areas; under the age of 30; U. S. citizen
Awards: Approximately 12 awards covering tuition, housing, travel, and $12,000 living expenses stipend

RHODES SCHOLARSHIPS (Contact Dr. John Selby, 131 Bank Bldg, 375-2425; selby@roanoke.edu)
Fields: Wide variety of fields (taught at the Oxford Colleges in England)
Required: Literary and scholastic attainments; success in sports, or other demonstration of physical vigor; sympathy for and protection of the weak, unselfishness, fellowship, etc.; moral force of character to lead, to perform public duties, to work for betterment of society
Eligibility: Completion of bachelor's degree by October of year starting Oxford; between 18 and 24 years of age; U. S. citizen
Awards: 32 scholarships in U.S., all educational costs, travel costs, and maintenance allowance, for 2 years at Oxford University
