Oren E. Hudson '41
Oren E. Hudson attended and graduated from Roanoke College in 1941, and was also part of the Virginia Polytechnic Institute class of 1941. Hudson worked with the Army Corps of Engineers from 1946-1952 and also with the Virginia Bridge Company of Roanoke in 1952.
Oren was then assigned to the Orinoco Mining Company, a U.S. Steel subsidiary. In 1954, he moved to Venezuela, and in 1956 he became the chief of operations and vice president, a position he held for 12 years. Oren then moved to Brazil in 1968 to become president of Companhia Meridional De Mineraco, a subsidiary of U.S. Steel controlling the largest known iron ore deposit in the world. He retired in 1978.
Oren E. Hudson received the Roanoke College Medal on April 25, 1981 for his distinctive service and professional achievement.
