Roanoke will host a series of discussions on the first Thursday of each month at Mill Mountain Coffee & Tea in Salem. The next is March 1 with Dr. Jane Long leading the conversation, "Good Girls Don't: Salome in Renaissance Art."

Olds’ seventh place is best Olympic women’s road race finish by American in 20 years
Shelley Olds '03, who crossed the finish line in 3 hours, 35 minutes, 56 seconds, was the top finisher among the four U.S. Women's Cycling team members who competed in the 89-mile Olympic race through the streets of London.

In Memoriam: Dr. Curt Camac
Roanoke College psychology professor Dr. Curt Camac passed away on Oct. 6. During his 26 years at Roanoke, Dr. Camac left an immeasurable impact on faculty, staff and students. One of his proudest accomplishments was promoting student research.

Pakistani student among winners of video contest documenting semester of study at American colleges and universities
Amreek Kataria, who is in his fourth year of medical school in Pakistan, has spent the past few months as a student at Roanoke. A video documentary of his time at the College's Salem campus is one of three winners in a competition of about 30 Pakistani college students.

Johnson recognized with Student Affairs Legacy award from VASPA
Mac Johnson, Roanoke’s former dean of students for 27 years, is recognized for his career in Student Affairs. Johnson is now a senior advisor to the president and cabinet. “The most important reward for me has been the opportunity to make a positive difference in the lives of individual students across the years.”

Annual educators' conference to focus on multimedia teaching skills
The Margaret Sue Copenhaver Institute for Teaching and Learning is accepting applications for its 14th annual conference, held at Roanoke. The theme of this year's residential conference, which is June 17-19, is "Engaging the Net Generation as Learners."
