Magee was staff trumpeter and arranger at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Fla. from 1984 to 1987, and he has played lead trumpet with such artists as The Four Tops, The Temptations, The O'Jays, Ringling Bros., Barnum and Bailey Circus, Marv Stamm, Chris Vadala and Bill Watrous and Bobby Shew. Currently, Magee is principal and solo trumpet with the Shenandoah Symphony Orchestra in Lexington. He is founder, musical director and lead trumpet for the Roanoke Jazz Orchestra, lead trumpet with the Bob Lefever Big Band and adjunct professor of trumpet at Washington and Lee University in Lexington.
Among the pieces he will be performing are Don Schamber's Latin-grooved, Fatima, andTrumpet Elegy by former Stan Kenton Band arranger Leonard Geissel.
Also featured on the program will be a composition written for the Count Basie band by Sammy Nestico entitled Switch in Time and Mike Tomaro's arrangement of Miles Davis' Milestones.
