The program for the evening will feature the music of the Italian Baroque for choir, brass and organ and modern settings and include the works of Andrea Gabrieli, Giovanni Gabrieli, Gregorio Allegri, Daniel Pinkham, Jeffrey Sandborg, Rene Clausen, R. Murray Schafer, Jaakko Mantyjarvi and Byron Smith.
The Roanoke College Choir has been heard frequently in collaboration with the Roanoke Symphony Orchestra and Chorus, in its traditional holiday concert, "Lessons and Carols," at St. Andrew's Catholic Church, and in 12 countries since 1996. Most recently, the choir contributed to commemorative activities throughout Normandy, France, recognizing the 60th anniversary of D-Day. Music from the choir's Christmas CDs has been broadcast by radio stations around the country and on NPR's "Sing for Joy." Recent guest clinicians and conductors have included Gunnar Eriksson (Sweden), Ulrikka Molin (Sweden), Stefan Forssén (Sweden), Roger Treece, a member of Bobby McFerrin's VOICESTRA and
Lone Larsen, associate director of the Swedish Radio Choir (Denmark). Sandborg has served as the choir's conductor since 1985.
