Roanoke College, its website, among the region's best, according to Roanoker Magazine readers
Salem - Roanoke College is the best college in the Roanoke Valley, and its website is one of the area's most popular, according to readers of The Roanoker Magazine.
The College's website, www.roanoke.edu, landed the silver award in the magazine's annual Best of Roanoke contest, which is published this month. Last year, Roanoke's website logged 2 million visits from 200 countries.
The College picked up another Best of Roanoke award as the platinum, or first-place, winner in the Best College/University in the Valley category, ahead of Virginia Tech and Hollins University. This is the second year that the College has scored this top honor from The Roanoker.
The Roanoke Times' website, www.roanoke.com, and WDBJ7's, www.wdbj7.com, took first and second place honors respectively, in the category of Local Websites You Visit Most.
The Roanoker Magazine has published the Best of Roanoke awards each year since 1986. This year, the magazine's readers cast more than 51,000 individual votes for a variety of categories, including Most Inspiring Teacher, Best Place to Work and Your Local Hero.
Roanoke College, a classic liberal arts college in Salem, Virginia, combines firsthand learning with valuable personal connections in a beautiful, undergraduate setting. Roanoke is one of just seven percent of colleges nationwide with a chapter of Phi Beta Kappa, the nation's oldest and most prestigious honor society. The Princeton Review lists Roanoke as the 18th most beautiful campus in its "Best 376 Colleges" 2012 guidebook.
