College invites community to Bittle's Bash

Back

Roanoke College will host “Bittle’s Bash” on the evening of Thursday, September 28, at the campus’ back quad. Community members are invited to join faculty, staff, alumni, students, families and friends for this event. A bonfire will kick off the festivities at 7 p.m.  At approximately 8 p.m., the crowd will follow a parade of students representing all campus organizations to the grave of Dr. David Bittle, founding father and first president of the College.  After reminiscing by the graveside, the group will return to campus where Bittle’s Bash will continue at the Colket Center Cavern.

This event is in conjunction with the College’s family weekend events. The weekend’s theme is “Celebration of our Founders”. The Office of Alumni and Parent Relations is teaming up with the College Historical Society for this celebration of Roanoke’s founder.

Roanoke College, the country’s second oldest Lutheran-related college, is an independent, co-educational, four-year liberal arts college. Roanoke is one of just 270 colleges nationwide with a chapter of Phi Beta Kappa, the nation’s oldest and most prestigious honor society. The Princeton Review names Roanoke as one of the “best in the Southeast.” Roanoke’s 1,900 students represent 40 states across the U.S. and 26 foreign countries.
