No one injured in gas line break at Roanoke College
SALEM, Va.-A contractor cut a gas line behind the Sections residence hall on Roanoke College's campus Monday afternoon.
The rupture happened at approximately 1 p.m. when a contractor, who was installing a fence post, used a hand-held gas-powered auger that cut the line.
A Maroon Alert was issued to warn those on campus to stay away from the area between Sections and Bowman Hall. No one was injured.
Crews turned off the gas line, and Roanoke Gas Co. is repairing it. The area behind Sections has reopened.
