Lecture: Michael Hoyt

Friday, September 10, 6:30pm, Olin Hall, room 231

Hoyt earned his B.F.A. from Minneapolis College of Art & Design.  As an Asian-American artist, he attempts to illuminate the hyphen and aspires to create work that represents the enormous richness, contradiction and vitality that defines the American experience to stimulate debate, raise awareness and build bridges within and beyond our community.  His recent work is a visual investigation of the assimilation of knowledge and values, memory, loss, and personal and cultural identity.  Creative processes involving drawing, painting, photography, digital media and installation are his tools for developing significant relationships between diverse cultural values and cumulative personal and cultural experiences.
