Roanoke Hosts Forum on Marriage
The forum is being sponsored by the Covenant Network of Presbyterians of the Blue Ridge and Roanoke College’s Colket Center.
This November, citizens of Virginia will be asked to vote on a proposed Constitutional Amendment to the Virginia Bill of Rights. The purpose of this forum is to address critically some of the legal, political, Biblical, theological, and familial issues raised by the amendment.
Panelists will be asked to address questions such as: Will the amendment punish families or strengthen them? What of the claim made by proponents of the amendment that it will codify the “God-ordained structure of marriage?” Is the amendment necessary, and is the Virginia Bill of Rights the proper place to legislate on the issues of marriage? There will also be a period of time for questions and answers. Please join us for a lively discussion of these and related issues.
Roanoke College, the country’s second oldest Lutheran-related college, is an independent, co-educational, four-year liberal arts college.
