Poetry Reading: Lisa Russ Spaar

SALEM, Va.-A poetry reading by Lisa Russ Spaar will be held on the Roanoke College campus Tuesday, April 12 at 7 p.m. in the Colket Center Wortmann Ballroom. The public is invited to attend at no charge.

Spaar is director of the University of Virginia graduate program in creative writing and the undergraduate Area Program in poetry writing. Spaar is the author of Blue Venus: Poems. She won a 2000 Rona Jaffe Award for Emerging Women Writers for her collection of poetry, Glass Town, and she has received prizes and awards from the Academy of American Poets and the Virginia Commission for the Arts.

Spaar's work has appeared in a number of national literary journals, including The Kenyon Review, Poetry, The Virginia Quarterly Review and Ploughshares. She is the editor of Acquainted With the Night: Insomnia Poems (Columbia University Press).
