RC launches Young Associates
New program gives recent grads an opportunity to give back
To respond to alumni requests for a way to network and give back, Roanoke College has launched a new program for graduates of the last decade. Called Young Associates, the new program is patterned after Roanoke's Associates program, a leadership group in which individuals make generous annual gifts to the College.
In Young Associates, graduates from the last 10 years can make gifts prorated to their number of years as alumni.
Young Associates recognizes that recent graduates may not have the resources to participate at the same giving level as Associates. Giving will take place at graduated levels. For example, the annual membership for first-year alumni will be $100, second year, $200, up to 10 years out. Monthly payment options by credit card will enable Young Associates to spread their gifts through the year. An annual membership of $100 would be as little as $8.33 (one year out) or $16.66 a month with an annual gift of $200 (two years out).
The Young Associates program, in partnership with Roanoke's Career Services, will offer special webinars on networking, job strategies and resume writing. Young Associates will also be honored with a special networking reception during Alumni Weekend in April 2012.
During the inaugural year only - July 1, 2011 - June 30, 2012 - Young Associates gifts will be matched dollar-for-dollar (example: $200 gift = $400 to Roanoke), thanks to a $25,000 challenge grant from Sandy Mulheren '02.
