SALEM, Va.-The Roanoke College student satellite branch of the American Association of University Women (AAUW) will host a "Red Dinner" Saturday, February 12 at 7 p.m. in the Colket Center Wortmann Ballroom to support the Turning Point Battered Women's Shelter in Roanoke. In addition to dinner, the evening will include the winning performances of the student Vagina Monologue competition and other theatrical performances. The entertainment will contain adult content and language. Tickets are $30 per person. Tickets are $20 for students and can be reserved by contacting Emma Howes at firstname.lastname@example.org or by calling the Public Relations Office at (540) 375-2242 by February 1. Checks should be made payable to Roanoke College. Dress is casual and participants are encouraged to wear red.
"Red Dinners," originated by Eve Ensler, author of the award-winning Vagina Monologues, are held world-wide to raise awareness and funds to stop violence against women. The Turning Point Battered Women's Shelter serves women and children in need in the Roanoke Valley.
