Roanoke College Graduate and Staff Member Receives Fraternity Honor

SALEM, Va. - Roanoke College graduate and current director of financial aid, Thomas Blair, Jr. '85, recently received an award from the national office of the Sigma Chi Fraternity. Blair has been inducted into the Order of Constantine, which is considered the highest honor the fraternity bestows upon its members. Blair is one of only three Tau Chapter members ever to receive this prestigious award.

Blair was chosen for his work as the Tau Chapter advisor, for which he previously received an Erwin LeClerg outstanding Chapter Advisor Award, as well as his participation in several Sigma Chi affiliated leadership training programs and his 1997 Grand Consuls Citation, which related his work with the 125th anniversary celebration of the Tau Chapter of Sigma Chi.

Blair is "certainly honored, but mostly humbled by the award." He says, "The recognition is a testament to the relationships I have been blessed to enjoy over the years, through both celebratory and challenging times, with my undergraduate Sigma Chi brothers here at Roanoke - something that will remain forever in my heart's memory."

Each year, the Order of Constantine recognizes a group of up to 14 Sigma Chi brothers for their commitment, dedication and service to the fraternity. The honor of being named a "Constantine Sig" has been awarded to less than 500 brothers since the establishment of the Order of Constantine in 1948.
