Parent Leadership Council (PLC)

The goal of the Roanoke College Parent Leadership Council is to give parents the opportunity to enhance the value of their children's education through advocacy, advisement and philanthropy.

Parent Leadership Council members...

  • Are ambassadors of Roanoke College, both on campus and in their local community.
  • Support their students’ College through fundraising and philanthropy at a leadership level.
  • Represent parental concerns of all RC students to the College's leadership.

Parent Leadership Council members are invited to...

  • Attend Council meetings on the Roanoke College campus twice a year.
  • Make an annual gift to the Roanoke Fund at a leadership level.
  • Take an active role in helping the College reach its annual fundraising goal through personal contact with other parents.
  • Partner with the College's Admissions Department to help recruit high school students.
  • Offer internships, mentoring, or summer jobs to RC students through the College's Career Services Department.

The Parent Leadership Council is active...

  • In the summer and early fall, when the chairpersons extend invitations to join the Council and make a leadership-level gift of pledge for the current fiscal year ending June 30.
  • At a Council meeting and reception with President Maxey during Family Weekend.
  • By participating in regional receptions and phonathons in selected areas October through February.
  • At a spring Council meeting and reception on the Roanoke College campus.
  • In July and August, when Council members can host "welcome to Roanoke" receptions in their community for incoming students and their families.
