Annual Events

Friday on the Quad brings students, faculty and the Salem community together on Friday afternoons to celebrate good weather, food, entertainment and friends. FOTQ happens every Friday of first semester, as long as the weather permits. It's a barbeque-style buffet that allows students to use their Maroon Cards, the same as a regular commons meal.

Family Weekend

Family Weekend is an opportunity for families to come to campus to visit their children and see what life is like at Roanoke College. Families can attend class with their student and have the opportunity to meet with their student's advisor and/or meet with a career services representative to discuss internships and mentorships. Family Weekend also features Fridays on the Quad and an opportunity to see Maroon sports in action, among many other activities. More Information

Relay For Life

Relay for Life brings friends and family together to walk for a cure! The annual relay takes place on the Roanoke College campus every year to help raise money to give to the American Cancer. The walk is a celebration of survivors, as well as the one's we've lost, hoping to inspire everyone to dedicate themselves in some way to help fight back. The back quad is filled with fun events to enjoy when you are not partaking in the walk. Whether it is food in the commons, a moon bounce, or lounging with your friends, the night has endless opportunities for having a good time and feeling proud about your efforts to better peoples lives! President's Ball

The President's Ball is a semi-formal event held every November that allows the whole campus community to get together and have a little fun. The event features several live bands and DJs, great food, a cash bar and prizes. The event inspires students to dress up and come for a magical night of music and fun.

100 Days Party

The 100 Days Party is an event that is held for all seniors who are over 21 to have a night with their fellow senior class. It's a night of socializing with classmates, dancing to music or even a live band, karaoke-ing, and drinking with all beer free with a $5 donation fee to the Senior Class Fund. This party happens on the 100th day until graduation, where seniors can officially start their Graduation countdown!

Midnight Madness

Every year on the day before the official basketball season starts, the annual Midnight Madness event takes place. The basketball team members are introduced, along with the team coaches and staff. Fall sports are celebrated for their achievements and recognition they earned throughout the season. Then, the fun and games begin with relay races, dunking contests, three-pointer contest and half-court shot, to name a few activities. Free t-shirts are handed out to the first students in line and there are prizes for all of the winners.

Bittle's Bash

Every year the History Department celebrates the birthday of the first President at Roanoke College, David F. Bittle. There is a bonfire that is hosted on the back quad where students and faculty sing the alma mater, then there is a torch-light parade to Bittle's grave and finally a party in the Cavern on campus.
