Campus Recreation

Campus Recreation at Roanoke College is designed to stimulate interest and participation in physical activities which can be utilized, not only as a student, but also during years after graduation. It is a program that fosters social development in a safe and relaxed atmosphere while satisfying the need to compete. Recreation also stresses certain intangible qualities, such as sportsmanship and fair play.

Intramural Sports

Intramural Sports are a great way to continue playing the sports you love while staying in shape and building lasting friendships.

Club Sports

Club Sports are officially recognized student organizations that practice regularly and compete against other colleges in their respective conferences.

Outdoor Adventures

The Outdoor Adventures program runs various outdoor excursions throughout the year including hiking, climbing, mountain biking, kayaking, whitewater rafting, skiing and snowboarding.

Group Fitness

Group Fitness is a fun way to get into shape and offers Boot Camp, Yoga, Zumba® and Insanity®.

Aquatics

The pool located in Alumni Gym offers regular open swim hours for members of the campus community.

Shooting Pool

Game Room

The Game Room is located on the lower level of the Colket Center where you can shoot pool, play ping pong, or the latest video games on your favorite game system.

Facilities

Various facilities across campus are used for Campus Recreation programming.

Student Employment

Campus Rec is one of the largest student employers on campus with over 60 students serving as intramural referees, outdoor adventure guides, game room attendants, group fitness instructors and lifeguards.

Pre-Orientation Programs

Campus Rec offers two pre-orientation programs for incoming freshmen:  Journey and RC 1st Tee.
