Academic Advising
Advisors at Roanoke College recognize that students learn best when they play an active role in the decision making process about their fields of study and future careers.
Fintel Library
Fintel Library offers many resources to help you conduct your research and offers the latest in electronic journals and a wide selection of multi-media materials.
Interlibrary Loan
This service gives you access to books and periodical articles from other libraries throughout Virginia and the United States. ILL usually takes 5-10 working days for items to be delivered.
The Archives
The largest portion of the Roanoke College Archives is made up of the college records that have been continuously collected since the College's founding in 1842. Additionally, The Henry H. Fowler Collection contains the papers of one of Roanoke College's most distinguished alumni ('29), best known as LBJ's Secretary of the Treasury. Other items of note include a 4th edition Martin Luther bible, printed in 1564 - 65.
The Digital Media (ITRC) Lab
The ITRC Lab has an entire suite of hardware and applications, which enable students and faculty to create digital media for the web, DVDs, PowerPoint presentations, and CD-ROMs.
Print Shop
The Print Shop offers:
- copying
- offset printing
- binding services
The Language Resource Center (LRC)
The LRC provides students with audio, video, and technological methods of learning and practicing the foreign languages offered at Roanoke College.
Computer Labs
There are eleven computer labs on campus with a total of 178 workstations. Each lab has:
- a laser printer
- Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access)
- Mathematica
- Minitab
- SPSS
- Microcase
- Netscape
- Linux is available on 50 workstations in Trexler Hall
Art and Music Studios
F. W. Olin Hall is home to the Olin Gallery, which is a high security space approved by both the Smithsonian Institution and the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts. Olin Hall provides students with the opportunity to explore the areas where visual and performing arts come together. The building also contains:
- a 404-seat proscenium mainstage
- a 125-seat recital hall
- a dance studio
- a 100-seat black box theatre
- complete studio facilities for painters, photographers and sculptors
- art history library featuring over 30,000 slides
- state of the art media classrooms
