All international applicants must send a bank-certified statement and/or other form of documentation indicating the annual resources available for their education, such as a letter of financial support. The statement should be sent with the application or supporting documents and is required for the issuance of an I-20 form.

**Health Insurance Coverage: All international students must have health insurance coverage. Students may purchase health insurance through the college's health insurance carrier, an independent insurance carrier or obtain coverage through the family's current insurance plan. All health insurance purchased outside of the college carrier is subject to the approval of the Roanoke College Health Services Office.

***All new freshmen residing on campus MUST participate in the 19-meal plan. All other students, including new transfers, may select a 14-meal plan at a cost of $4,085. Students residing at Elizabeth Campus may opt out of either meal plan.

Merit Scholarships

In order to be considered for merit scholarships, a student must first apply and be accepted to the College. No separate scholarship application is required for an initial merit scholarship award.  The award is based upon high academic achievement and covers partial tuition.  Roanoke offers merit scholarships that range from $1,000-$18,000 annually for up to 4 years.

Additional Scholarship Opportunities

International students may also compete on-campus in the Scholars Program, apply to the Honors Program or the Undergraduate Research Assistants Program.

The Roanoke College Scholars Program is an opportunity for students to compete on campus for additional scholarship money.  To be considered for these scholarships, students must complete the Scholars Program application and be a prospective college freshman seeking first-time fall enrollment.  You must also be accepted to the College prior to the competition.  

The Roanoke College Honors Program is designed for students who excel in academics, have strong leadership skills and pursue numerous extracurricular activities.  The Honors Program provides students with many distinct educational opportunities and classes.  Besides meeting new friends, you join a competitive group of academic students who will graduate with an Honors diploma.  Admission into the Honors Program includes the Davis Honors Scholarship of $1,000 per year for four years.

The Undergraduate Research Assistants Program gives students the opportunity (and $1,000 every semester for all four years) to work with a professor on an exciting research project; meet with other top students and their research mentors six times a year; and create a resume that will truly stand out from the crowd.

Payment Options

Roanoke College loans are available for international students and do not require a U.S. co-signer.  Roanoke College loans are low-interest (8% interest rate) and the repayment period does not begin until 6 months after graduation.  There is also a 10 month payment plan available which allows you to spread your tuition and/or room and board into 10 equal payments. 

You may also work on-campus for up to 20 hours per week during the school year to help pay for expenses.  On average, you can earn anywhere from $800-$1,500 per year through on-campus employment.
