Admissions open for the weekend; Pack the House for Basketball

Admissions Office and Scholars Competition

The upcoming Scholars Competition scheduled for Monday, Feb. 17 is still on as planned.

The Admissions Office will be open for their regular hours on Saturday for the weekly presentation and tour at 10 am.

The Math and Science Exploration Day for applicants and accepted high school seniors, which is scheduled for Sunday, Feb. 16 from 2:45 pm to 6:30 pm is still on as planned. 

The upcoming Scholars Competition scheduled for Monday, Feb. 17 is still on as planned.

The Scholars Competition planned to be held by Admissions Friday, February 14, was cancelled. For information about the rescheduled event, please contact the Admissions Office at or call 540-375-2270.

The Men's Lacrosse game scheduled for Sunday vs. St. Mary's has been rescheduled to Tuesday at 3:30 pm.

Softball at Virginia Intermont moved from Sunday, Feb. 6 to Tuesday, Feb. 18th at 3:30 PM

These Athletics events are cancelled
Baseball vs. Frostburg State (Three Game Series - Saturday & Sunday)
Women's Tennis will not be traveling to Mary Washington for Quad Match on Sunday.

This month's edition of Tuesday Night Live has been moved to next Tuesday, February 18th at 9:00 PM at Mac and Bob's.

Intramural events are cancelled for both Wednesday and Thursday.

Elderscholar registration

Registration for the popular Elderscholar program has been postponed until Monday.

Roanoke College is closed on Friday.

More than a foot of snow fell on the Roanoke College campus overnight Wednesday and several additional inches came down Thursday afternoon in a heavy snowfall. Therefore, the College will be closed on Friday, Feb. 14. Happy Valentine's Day. Be safe outside!

  • Men's Breakfast, Wednesday evening, 11 PM, Allegheny's Common Room

  • The Colket Center Gameroom is open Wednesday night and Thursday too!

  • Watch the Winter Olympics in the Colket Center's Kresge Lounge.

  • Snow Sculpting Contest, Thursday, Feb 13, 12 Noon to  3 pm, Back Quad

Residence Halls, Athletic Teams, Student Organizations or just a group of friends can compete for prizes. Sculpt a design of your choice within the three hour limit.  Start at 12 Noon and end by 3 pm.

1st place prize -  $500
2nd place prize - $250

The Cavern and The Commons

The Cavern will close at 4 pm on Wednesday and will be closed on Thursday.

The Commons will close at the regular time of 8 pm on Wednesday. The Commons will open at 10:30 am Thursday and will be open all day until 8 pm.

Fintel Library

Fintel Library will close at 10 pm on Wednesday. According to inclement weather policies, it will be open 9:30 am to 10 pm on Thursday. For more on Fintel Library services during inclement weather, visit their web page.

Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe has declared a state of emergency for the entire Commonwealth and encourages citizens to prepare for the storm. Get winter weather preparedness information at and download the new Ready Virginia app for iPhones and Android devices.

Darwin Days

Vanishing of the Bees movie, scheduled for Wednesday evening, and the talk by Howland Blackiston '73 has now been cancelled. The College hopes to reschedule the whole event in the future. For more on Darwin Days, see the full schedule here.

Calculus: The Musical

"Calculus: The Musical POSTPONED until Wed, Feb 26 @ 7 PM"

Honors Conference events are still on schedule at this time.

Ruth Trochim's Senior Recital has been postponed. Previously scheduled for 4 pm on Saturday, February 15 in Olin Recital Hall, Trochim's recital will now take place at 3 pm, Saturday, February 22 in Olin Recital Hall.
