At this time of year, it’s not just the graduating seniors are saying goodbye and heading off in new directions; several long-time faculty and staff members are retiring. As a group, they have served Roanoke for 243 years!
Brieanah Gouveia '17, an art history major, is headed to England, while Daniel Osborne '17, a history major, will study in Scotland.
Degrees were awarded to 452 Roanoke College graduates. Makoto Fujimura and Nancy Agee received honorary degrees.
The well, which is now dry, has some impressive stats for one that was dug by hand. It is 4 feet in diameter and 33.5 feet deep. Check out the video from inside the well.
At a retirement party, Arthur was surprised by several former shop assistants and alumni of Roanoke’s theater program. He was especially surprised when they announced the formation of an endowed scholarship in his honor.
