Open Enrollment 2015

October 29 - November 12, 2014

Our 2015 Benefits Open Enrollment period begins October 29th!  During the Open Enrollment period, all benefit-eligible employees are required to select their benefits for January 1, 2015, including those employees who want their benefits to remain the same and those employees who waive coverage.  Employees have the option to elect the same benefits, make changes to their benefits, waive coverage, and drop or add eligible dependents. The following benefits will be available:

  • Health Insurance
  • Dental Insurance
  • Flexible Spending
  • Voluntary Vision Insurance

All benefit elections will become effective January 1, 2015 and remain in effect during the entire plan year unless the employee experiences a qualifying event such as marriage, birth/adoption of a child, or loss of other coverage. Please see the qualifying events summary for detailed information.

Benefit Enrollment Online

All benefit-eligible employees will select their benefits through their MyRoanoke account.  Once logged in, you can view your current benefit elections, level of coverage, the dependents you cover and the available benefit options for 2015. Health Plan Information

Roanoke College will continue to offer three medical plan options all offered through Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield. Mental Health Parity regulations require unlimited benefits on Applied Behavioral Health as it applies to spectrum disorder. Effective January 1, 2015, applied behavioral health will be unlimited (currently limited to $35,000 per year).  In addition, Mental Health parity is requiring residential treatment of mental health and substance abuse to be covered as inpatient.  This coverage was previously excluded.

Health care reform is requiring nutritional counseling to be expanded to include counseling for eating disorders.

For Plan 4 PPO, the copayment for physical therapy and occupational therapy will decrease to $30 effective January 1st.

Prescription Drug Plan Change

Effective January 1, 2015, prescription drug benefits will be offered through our new partnership with Express Scripts.  You will receive a separate ID card from Express Scripts that will need to be presented to your pharmacy when filling any prescriptions beginning January 1st.  All current retail and mail order prescriptions, prescription claims history, and any drug prior authorizations will transfer automatically to Express Scripts.

Health care reform requires all prescription drug plans to have an out of pocket maximum.  Effective January 1, 2015, your plan will have a separate out of pocket maximum for pharmacy (separate from medical).  You can find full details on this in the summary of prescription plan highlights below.

There will be subtle differences in the formulary. Express Scripts has provided a link to their formulary so that you may look for your prescriptions and check on participating pharmacies.

 

Dental Plan Information

Roanoke College will continue to offer two dental plans through Ameritas Group and all dental benefits remain unchanged.  Dental benefits for Low and High Option are summarized below.

  2. Under "Open Enrollment" at the bottom of the page, enter 2704 in the Client Code field and then click Submit to open the Roanoke College Welcome page.
     

Flexible Spending Information

Our flexible spending plan continues to be managed by LD&B Benefits Administrators located in Harrisonburg, VA. Employees now have use of a “Benny” card. This card acts much like a debit card tied directly to your flexible spending accounts. When presented at your doctor’s office and pharmacy, your medical charges are automatically deducted from your designated healthcare flexible spending balance. If you currently participate in flexible spending, you should retain your Benny Card for use in the new plan year.   

Another feature of LD&B is that you will have immediate access to your account balances online through the LD&B website. Upon enrollment into the flexible spending plan, employees will be issued a PIN number that will allow access to submit claims and view balances.  For more information regarding flexible spending accounts, please take time to view our Flex Spending Summary or Flex Benefits Enrollment Information

As previously announced, the College will allow employees to roll over any remaining balance up to $500 beginning with the 2015 plan yearYou will continue to have a three-month run out period after the end of the plan year (December 31, 2015) in order to file your claims for 2015.  But any money left (up to the $500 limit), will be included in your 2016 available balance.  Roll over funds are only available for health care expenses.

If you are a current Flexible Spending participant, you must re-enroll each year through Benefit Enrollment Online. This benefit does not automatically continue each year.
