Roanoke College Sponsors Haiti Relief Efforts
Roanoke College is responding to the current crisis in Haiti by offering numerous opportunities for the campus community to help with relief efforts. A variety of groups and organizations are sponsoring events to benefit the earthquake victims.

American Library Association honors book by Roanoke College professor
Choice magazine has named Dr. Mary Henold's recent book, Catholic and Feminist: The Surprising History of the American Catholic Feminist Movement, to its Outstanding Academic Title list for 2009.

Roanoke College’s Salem Ambassadors program wins national award
The Roanoke College Salem Ambassadors Program has won gold honors in the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators' 2009 Excellence Award program.

Roanoke College professor releases book about the death penalty system
Dr. Todd C. Peppers, associate professor of public affairs, has coauthored a newly released book. The work is an examination of the modern death penalty system and a juvenile whose actions landed him in that system, ultimately to be executed.

New Web site for the College bookstore is up and running
The site includes an online marketplace and information about the campus store's hours and services. Products available for online purchase include select lines of emblematic clothing, gifts, items for the home, diploma frames and gift cards.

Roanoke Alums’ star still shines brightly
The Mill Mountain Star was first lit 60 years ago. The Kinsey brothers helped to build the Roanoke landmark that was designed by their father. The Star has 2,000 feet of neon tubing on a 100-foot frame.

Kuchar awarded Fulbright position in Ukraine
Dr. Martha Kuchar, professor of English, has been granted a Fulbright scholarship to Ukraine. She will teach at a university there during the spring 2010 semester and also will research Russian fiction written by women living in Ukraine.

Roanoke College Celebrates Constitution Day with Justice Sandra Day O’Connor
O'Connor received an honorary Doctor of Laws degree from Roanoke College. She attended two classes and spoke to students. Dr. Todd Peppers hosted O'Connor in his Constitutional Law class, and she visited with Dr. Heath Brown's public policy students.
