Learning Team Dynamics through International Service (Belize)
What is this travel course about?
We will be doing service work at Toledo Christian Academy. Students will work in two groups of five and have a building project they will work on. Only 10 students are accepted into this May Term. Students will learn about the process of team dynamics, and gain real-world knowledge about how they work in teams – what their strengths are and areas of opportunity. We will also be immersed in the culture, and visit some local and major attractions.
Does this course fulfill any major/minor/concentration requirements?
This course will substitute for BUAD 364 Team Dynamics
Are there prerequisites for this travel course?
None. However, BUAD 254 Organizational Behavior, would be useful.
Where will we go?
Toledo, Belize – this is where the school is and other things we will be doing like the Mayan Ruins, Snorkeling in Placencia, and exploring the markets of Punta Gorda.
What are the dates of the travel course?
We will begin on campus in early May and then travel May 19-May 31, 2024
How much is the program fee?
$3,100
What costs are covered in my program fee?
Airfare (from Roanoke), lodging, food, project fees, entrance fees, and transportation in Belize. Just about all is covered.
What other costs should I prepare for beyond my program fee?
Students need funds if they want to check baggage on the flight (not recommended), $35 for their passport visa on arrival, and for any food at airports. Spending money for souvenirs, but not much extra money is necessary.
