Steps to Apply
Below are some helpful instructions as you prepare your application to Roanoke.

*Although optional, we strongly encourage you to submit an essay as an example of your writing ability. This may be included on your Roanoke College online application under "personal statement."

Academic Transcripts and Records
Official transcripts and academic records should be sent directly to Roanoke College from all high schools/secondary schools and universities you have attended. The transcripts should indicate all completed courses, the final grades received and any certificates or diplomas awarded. Transcripts, in a language other than English, should be accompanied by an official English translation.
Freshman and transfer students wishing to be evaluated for college credit must submit their official university or college transcripts, and, if possible, an academic catalogue with a description of the courses you have taken. Students will potentially receive credit for comparable courses at Roanoke.

Examination Results
Test scores may be sent or emailed through the student or testing agency/national examination board. If emailing, send to admissions@roanoke.edu.
Native English Speakers:
International students whose native language is English may submit scores from one of the following examinations:
- SAT - (code: 5571)*
- ACT - administered by ACT, Inc.(code: 4392)*
- National Examinations (official results must be sent from the country's examining body)
Non-Native English Speakers:
One of the following examinations is required of all students, both freshmen and transfers whose native language is not English:
- TOEFL (recommended score is 80 IBT or higher) – administered by the Educational Testing Service (code: 5571)
- IELTS (recommended score is 6.0 or higher) – jointly managed by the British Council, IDP: IELTS Australia and the University of Cambridge ESOL Examinations
- SAT – administered by the College Board (code: 5571)
- Duolingo English Test
Financial Support Statement
All international applicants who do not wish to apply for financial aid must print and submit by email the Roanoke College Certificate of Finances along with a bank-certified statement and/or other form of documentation indicating the annual resources available for their education.
All international students who do wish to apply for need-based financial aid must print and submit by email the Roanoke College International Financial Aid Application Roanoke College I-20 Application, along with a bank-certified statement and/or other form of documentation indicating the annual resources for their education. All certificates, applications, and bank statements may be emailed to admissions@roanoke.edu.

Once Accepted to Roanoke College - Pay Your Deposit!
Pay your tuition deposit by May 1 to hold your place in the freshmen class. After you submit your tuition deposit, if you are in need of an I-20 form to apply for your F-1 student visa, please fill out the I-20 application below and return it to Elise Bennett, Director of International Recruitment, at bennett@roanoke.edu.
