Our experienced staff members provide quality, confidential and compassionate health care to the students of Roanoke College. Roanoke College Student Health & Counseling Services is nurse-directed, operating under the direct medical supervision of a local doctor. Our team is skilled in the assessment and treatment of health issues of college students. Serious illnesses are referred to physicians or other appropriate providers.
For more serious health issues, the Roanoke Valley is home to a number of high-quality hospitals, including Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital, ranked among the top 5 hospitals in Virginia by U.S. News & World Report.

Our on-campus health center handles primary care services for most medical conditions and minor injuries, reproductive health, lab testing, immunizations, wound care and referrals to other medical and psychological services as needed.

We offer free and confidential counseling for individuals or couples, counseling for treatment of mental illness or for personal development, group counseling, Let’s Talk informal consultations, drug and alcohol education and services for LGBTQ+ students.

Roanoke has a free telehealth program for all Roanoke students designed to complement the services provided on campus. Services include medical appointments (both on-demand and scheduled), TalkNow on-demand mental health consultation, scheduled counseling appointments and health coaching (nutrition, sleep, weight management, etc.)

Our officers conduct patrols on and around campus and provide on-call safety escorts, vehicle jump starts, room and car unlocks, and building security. Campus Safety is also the place to register your car and/or bike, and get your Maroon Card IDs.

The Care Team is a group of college officials who meet regularly to review and discuss students who may be in distress or who are experiencing difficulties. If you are concerned about a student’s health, safety or welfare, you may want to submit a report to Care Team. Urgent or immediate concerns should be handled through Campus Safety.
