Living Learning Communities (LLC)
Roanoke College offers multiple Living Learning Communities (LLCs)
A Living Learning Community is a residential program that integrates intellectual and personal interests with residential experiences to enhance students' learning and personal development. These communities often involve students taking shared courses while living together in a supportive residence hall environment that fosters academic excellence, collaboration, and personal growth.
Honors
Located in Maxey Hall, this LLC houses members and friends of the Honors Program. If you are interested in living in this area, please contact Dr. Skip Brenzovich, Director of the Honors Program, for further information.
Scholars
Located in Beamer Hall, the Scholars LLC provides a living environment for students who wish to focus on their scholarly pursuits. If you are interested in the Scholars Affinity House, Contact the Director of Experiential Learning (research@roanoke.edu)
Mosaic
Located on the 3rd floor of Maxey Hall, the Mosaic House is the place for students who identify beyond the binary, LGBTQ+, or those who are allies of the community! First-year students in this community will take a quarter-unit course together each fall (topic is related to LGBTQ+ experiences and changes yearly). Upperclass students can opt into the course. H2O (Health and Helping Opportunities)
Do you have an interest in helping others that is leading you toward health-related pathways? Maybe you’re drawn to patient care or curious about the array of health and helping professions. Maybe you’re interested in discovering how your unique set of skills, interests, and experiences – from writing to finance, from science to language – can contribute to health and helping. The Roanoke Promise
“The Roanoke Promise” is a Living-Learning Community for first-year, first-generation college students at Roanoke College! Embark on a transformative journey exclusively crafted for first-generation students. Our program offers a supportive environment, collaborative learning experiences, and resources tailored to your needs. Designed for students who want to actively participate in a community where their college story is celebrated and nurtured. Located on the 2nd floor of Shenandoah Hall. Global Village
Located on the 2nd & 3rd floors of Chalmers Hall, the Global Village houses international students and U.S. students who are interested in other countries and cultures. Special programming, including international dinners, film and culture nights, holiday celebrations, and trips provide opportunities for residents to share their own cultures and learn about others. Leadership
Located in Shenandoah Hall, the Leadership House, houses students with an interest in developing their leadership skills and talents. Students will learn different styles of leadership and be able to participate in events focused on the themes of team-building, communication, and mentorship. Multicultural
Located in Chalmers Hall, ground and 1st floors, this area houses students who are seeking opportunities that living among a diverse population of students can provide. Sports and Recreation
Located in Catawba Hall, the Sports and Recreation Affinity House is the place for students who have an interest in anything related to sports, outdoor adventures, fitness, and everything in between! Flourish
Located on the 3rd floor of Ritter Hall, the Flourish community will prioritize developing and experiencing daily wellness practices. In this space, students have access to their own wellness living lounge. If you are interested in Flourish, please contact Donovan Hill.
Greek Housing
Housing is provided for Roanoke College's nationally recognized fraternities and sororities.
Chesapeake Hall houses Pi Kappa Phi, Alpha Sigma Alpha, Delta Gamma, and Chi Omega.
The Elizabeth Campus houses four fraternities: Kappa Alpha; Sigma Chi, Pi Kappa Alpha, and Pi Lambda Phi.
