Living Learning Communities (LLC)
A Living Learning Community is a residential program that integrates intellectual and personal interests with residential experiences to enhance students' learning and personal development. These communities often involve students taking shared courses while living together in a supportive residence hall environment that fosters academic excellence, collaboration, and personal growth. Roanoke College is proud to offer multiple Living Learning Community options:
Honors
Located in Maxey Hall, this LLC houses members and friends of the Honors Program. If you are interested in living in this area, please contact Dr. Skip Brenzovich, Director of the Honors Program, for more information.
Scholars
Located in Beamer Hall, the Scholars LLC provides a living environment for students who wish to focus on their scholarly pursuits. If you are interested in this program, please contact Dr. Travis Carter, Director of Experiential Learning, for more information.
Mosaic House
Located in Maxey Hall, the Mosaic is a place for students who identify beyond the binary, are LGBTQ+ or are allies of the community. First-year students in this community will take a quarter-unit course together each fall (topic is related to LGBTQ+ experiences and changes yearly). Upperclass students can opt into the course. If you are interested in Mosaic, please contact Dr. Jennifer Berenson or Dr. Sarah Murray for more information.
H2O (Health and Helping Opportunities)
Located on the third floor of Maxey Hall, H2O is where health, helping others and shared purpose converge. The LLC is designed for students interested in health careers and discovering how their unique skillsets, interests, and experiences — from writing and finance to science and language — can contribute to health and helping. If you are interested in H²O, please contact Dr. Shannon Anderson for more information.
