FAQ
How does it work?
In your junior year, you can apply to Virginia Tech's Graduate School and, once accepted, can begin earning credit toward your master's degree for courses that you take as an undergraduate at Roanoke College. Up to six credits from a set of approved courses (Table 2) can be transferred.
This pathway gives you an early transition into graduate school and slashes the time needed to earn an advanced degree.
What are the requirements?
The 4+1 partnership is open to students of all majors who have a minimum GPA of 3.3 at the time of application and can demonstrate proficiency in basic algebra, differential calculus, basic statistics and probability, and intermediate microeconomic theory.
No GRE or GMAT scores are required. Once accepted into the program, students must maintain an overall GPA of 3.0 for the remainder of their undergraduate coursework.
How do I apply?
Students should apply at least 12 months before completing their undergraduate degree i.e. during their junior year. The application process will require letters of recommendation, a personal statement, current resume and your college transcripts. Tech will waive its application fee as part of the 4+1 agreement.
Professor Alice Kassens can advise students through the application process.
