Dr. Frank Shushok Jr.
Dr. Shushok has been a champion for higher education and student success for more than 30 years. He is passionate about creating environments that foster innovation and transformative learning. Inspired by his own journey as a student, he’s also a tireless advocate for removing barriers to access and ensuring all students are able to unlock their potential and purpose at Roanoke.
Initiatives

Designed to spark imagination and innovation, our six imperatives are intentionally ambitious, calling us to move rapidly to advance new initiatives, partnerships, and ways of thinking, while remaining driven and inspired by a long-term vision that extends beyond the next one, three, or five years. Above all, the imperatives establish a shared vision for how we must think, act, and collaborate to best serve 21st century learners and the region.

The Shared Governance Task Force is charged with studying, designing and recommending a new structure for shared governance at Roanoke College.

Following a comprehensive feasibility study, Roanoke College announced in fall 2023 the reinstatement of Maroon football after a hiatus of more than 80 years, along with the establishment of marching band and competitive cheer programs.

Roanoke College is launching its membership in College Presidents for Civic Preparedness during its campus celebration of Constitution Week.

Along with a group of community partners, the College welcomes state and regional leaders on March 7 to discuss talent attraction and retention.

The teams, which will be made up of a cross-section of community members, will collaborate and offer recommendations to ensure the College’s success in a rapidly changing world.
