The track and field team has been setting college records all season long - and this weekend at the Track & Field NCAA National Championships in La Crosse, Wisconsin was no exception. Mara Briggs tied for 4th in the high jump with a mark of 1.71M, which was also a Roanoke College record high jump. Quinn Harlan finished 3rd in 100M finals with time 12.05. Both earned All-American honors!
Quinn Harlan also set the school record in the 100m with a time of 11.78. The time is top in the ODAC and ranks as the second-best currently in Division III. Lindsey Baxter set a new school record in the pole vault with a mark of 3.37M. Claire Trotto also set the RC record in the pole vault with a height of 3.31 m / 10' 10.25".
At the ODAC Championships, Quinn Harlan captured the ODAC Championship in the 100m with a time of 12.00, just two-hundredths of a second shy of the meet record set by RC alum JaLeesa Osborne. For her efforts, she was named the ODAC Women's Rookie of the Year. Harlan also finished second in the 200m with a time of 25.34. Emily Ball placed third in the 400m with a time of 1:00.70. Jennifer Calascione was crowned league champion in the discus with a toss of 39.96m. Nicole Moughrabi finished second and Jayna Jean-Jules was fourth.
The 4 x 100 M team of Bailey Parks, Claire Aurand, Alison Moreau and Harlan won the ODAC Championship with a time of 48.92. Nicole Moughrabi won the ODAC Hammer Throw Championship with a mark of 41.00 M / 134' 6". Elizabeth Knudsen came in second with a throw of 39.85m. Knudsen was third in the javelin with a throw of 30.88m and Grace Carll was fourth with a 30.20. Jennifer Barthol was fifth in the 5k with a personal best time of 18:36.50.
Mara Briggs' 1.69 M / 5' 6.5" in the high jump earned her conference championship honors. Claire Trotto finished second in the pole vault with a 3.25m and Louise Tester was tied for third with a mark of 3.00m.
The Roanoke baseball team placed four standouts on the All-ODAC team, including Sean Guida who was named ODAC Player of the Year and Will Salva who was named Rookie of the Year, becoming the first players in program history to earn those awards. Guida was joined on the first-team by third baseman Jack Howard. Salva was named the DH on the second-team and reliever Sal Trancucci was a third-team selection.
Six women's lacrosse standouts have been named to the 2018 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) All-Conference Team, including Emma Boris who was named the league's defensive player of the year. Boris was named First-Team All-ODAC along with Maggie Lewis. Ellie Armstrong was chosen for the second-team, while Mckenna Polak, Caitlin Blankenship and Katie Clements were named to the third-team.
Nine men's lacrosse standouts were named to the 2018 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) All-Conference Team, including Garritt Schwarz who was named the league's rookie of the year. Jason Sarro, Conn Curry, Ian Davies and IV Stucker all made first-team, while Schwarz was joined on the second-team by Robby Moore and Tim Aldinger. Brendan Devane and Joey Russell were named to the third-team.
Three Roanoke College Women's Tennis standouts were named First-Team All-ODAC as the league announced its yearly awards on Monday. Madeline Herring was honored at No. 4 singles, Carolyn Kitsock was first-team at No. 5, while the doubles team of Janny Alvarado and Kitsock were named first-team at No.3.
Four Roanoke College softball standouts were named to the All-ODAC team on Tuesday. Katie Smith was named first-team, while Teresa Wagner and Taylor Carter were named second-team and Emily Salsberry was a third-team choice.
